Life takes an entirely new turn for Yuzu Aihara. And it all happens after the remarriage of her mother. A new family, a new house, and a new school, everything is new and strange. And out of all the possible schools, she was forced to attend a rigorous and conservative all-girl high school. With her easy-going nature, she thought she would adjust soon. But due to her flashy style, she was not able to conform with the rules of her new ultrastrict school.

Moreover, her strangeness also managed to grab the attention of the beautiful and imposing student council president, Mei Aihara. She thought she would only need to face the uncompromising president in school. Unfortunately for her, as she returns to her home, she finds out that the one person that caused the most trouble for her that day is also going to be her new step sister.

It has an excellent art style, some fluid animation, and impressive voice-acting. A story that follows the manga very tightly but still adds in something new now and then.

24. Shoujo Sect: Innocent Lovers

Score: 6.80/10

The story follows the lives of two childhood friends who met on a playground. They played around together, and one of them also fell in love with the other. However, after sharing a kiss, they separated for ten years.

But now they have such contrasting personalities and different dreams. Will Shinobu’s hope to make her remember the promise come true?

The anime has many side stories aside from its main story showing the different relationships between the girls. Though it isn’t anything special, it still did an excellent job adapting the manga. It has cute character designs and moments featuring intimate close-up scenes.

23. Inugami-san to Nekoyama-san

Score: 6.64

Yachiyo Inugami is a cat-loving girl. While Suzu Nekoyama is a dog-loving girl. When they meet one day, they both felt an instant attraction toward each other despite having such opposite personalities. Slowly they started gaining a deeper understanding of each other and becoming closer all the while.

In this anime, each episode is about 4 minutes long. And it dives into the various setting surrounding the two main protagonists and other side characters. It has cute yuri moments, a gorgeous art style, and their personalities are beautifully stereotyped to the animals they represent.

22. Riddle Story of the devil

Score: 6.75/10

The plot begins at the elite Moujou Academy, a private girl’s boarding school. In the “10th Year Class Black” of the academy, 13 students were transferred. And they are all tasked with one thing only.  And that is the assassination of a sweet-natured student, Haru Ichinose. If someone can accomplish this mission, then they will be granted the wish, no matter the cost or difficulty. But through some unexpected course of action, Tokaku Azuma, one of the assassin student, felt herself becoming closer with Haru. And she vowed to protect her from this on-going bloodlust.

This yuri anime has an interesting premise with a dark and alluring setting. It has a distinctive style and dark, engaging soundtracks. Though maybe it was a bit lacking in the yuri element overall, it was quite enjoyable.

21.  Kanamemo

Score: 6.95/10

The storyline follows the life of Kana Nakamachi, a middle school girl. She had lost her parents long ago, and now she lost her only family, her grandmother. And also try to get along with various unusual employes of the office as well as other related peoples. But being a young schoolgirl, will she be able to cope up well with this new environment?

Here we have yuri anime coupled with a slice of life, ecchi, and a little bit of warmth to it. The anime is episodic. Therefore, there is not much of a plot in it. Though if you are not a great fan of ecchi, then I would recommend not to watch it because there are numerous intense ecchi scenes. It also has a different sense of comedy in terms of being ecchi. So if you can take ecchi comedy, then you will surely find it enjoyable.

Will these two be able to confess their heart at the end, or will they become apart from each other as time goes by?

Not your typical magical-super-power-shoujo-girl. It is a story with a dark genre coupled with yuri and action. It has done exceptionally well with the development of its characters and their unique persona. Top-notch soundtracks and animation are sure to make one feel the excitement while watching this anime.

16. Maria-Sama Ga Miteru

Score: 7.42/10

And that was to ask the permission of Sachiko so that she can display this picture at the upcoming school festival. Thus begins the series of events that involved the entire Yamayuri council. With Yumi somehow also becoming Sachiko’s petite soeur.

A character-driven anime that features the romantic relationship between girls in an understandable way. This yuri anime has explored the characters with enough depth. Though the soundtracks were not anything special, the visuals did a good job, which complimented the series well.

15. Oniisama e

Score: 7.84

However,  she possesses none of these. Therefore, everyone doubts about how she even managed to get in. This resulted in enticing the jealousy and ire of many such students who wanted the chance also to become close to the top three popular girls of the school in Sorority. Nanako is narrating the story through a series of letters to Takehiko Henmi, whom she calls ”Onii-Sama’.

A great example of how narration can be used creatively and to great success in an anime. It has a peculiar art style and emotion-inducing music coupled with appealing characters. This made the series very dramatic and intense. A good pick to be included in the yuri anime watch-list.

14. El Cazador De La Bruja

12. Mnemosyne: Mnemosyne no Musume-Tachi

Score: 7.40/10

But that only lasted until she was suddenly under the vicious attacks of the angels who were out to exterminate the immortals.

A mainstream anime with an original story and an exciting theme. Although this anime isn’t as gory as say, Elfen Lied, this one still isn’t for the faint of heart. This anime is much more than the explicit sexual references, which will make you pleasantly satisfied.

Although Akira at first was unsure of how to act still, she supports Fumi’s sexuality and comforts her in her time of need. But later, Fumi also reveals to her that she was her first love. And this makes Akira feel very confused and embarrassed.

This anime portrays a severe and thoughtful story about a group of teenage girls. As they experience their first love and learn more about themselves. There is nothing flashy in this yuri anime. But it is more realistic in its concepts. The voice acting is stellar, a decent cast of characters, and enjoyable music.
