This should be exciting checking out the brand new anime they will start with this new year. Will it be a strong anime start for the new year? or a weak one? well, that depends on the viewers.

All I’m here to do it round up and give you a list of anime that are airing next season while also dropping my own pointless opinion on them. Pointing out the anime you might want to keep an eye on. There is some really exciting stuff airing in this new season some that will probably leave people really hyped or disappointed it depends. For me though there is a fair amount of decent stuff I’m really looking forward to next season. So without further delay, let us get to the

Winter 2019 Anime Worth Checking Out Guide

Oh but wait before we fully get into it. I got to make this clear, this list will not contain, Movies, OVA’s, ONA or Short Form anime. The main focus will only be the normal anime-based series airing this season.  Now with that out of the way. Let us get started.

1. The Promised Neverland

Series Summary

At Grace Field House, life couldn’t be better for the orphans! Though they have no parents, together with the other kids and a kind “Mama” who cares for them, they form one big, happy family. No child is ever overlooked, especially since they are all adopted by the age of 12. Their daily lives involve rigorous tests, but afterwards, they are allowed to play outside.

There is only one rule they must obey: do not leave the orphanage. But one day, two top-scoring orphans, Emma and Norman, venture past the gate and unearth the horrifying reality behind their entire existence: they are all livestock, and their orphanage is a farm to cultivate food for a mysterious race of demons. With only a few months left to pull off an escape plan, the children must somehow change their predetermined fate. (Source:MangaUpdates)

Starting out with what will probably end up being one of the more popular New none sequel anime airing next season. The Promised Neverland, A series I’ve been following basically since it started. A series many at the start won’t think much of since most viewers will think it’s nothing but another shounen series getting an anime. Those people will be sorely mistaken. The Horror and Mystery will leave somewhat speechless as the series looks innocent on the cover. So many will start out doubting it but by the end, if adapted correctly many people will come out loving and adoring this series.

2. The Rising of the Shield Hero

Now this anime is without a doubt one of my anticipated anime airing next season. Reason for that being the LN is problem one of my favorite LN’s. I adore this series though I feel like many will problem pass on this series simply because it’s another Isekai. But believe me, you’ll be missing something damn good if you skip on this because it’s an Isekai.

This series is one of the few good isekai’s out there. Just like Slime anime last season it’s one of those series where you’d think it’s trash because it’s another isekai but turns out to be really damn good. Though the differences between Shield Hero and Slime are very big can’t deny so can’t compare the two. Slime has comedy and a constant light-hearted feel to it which makes people love it. Shield hero is more on the dark side of things. While it has it’s cute and fun moments. But the tone of the series is mostly serious.

But let me stop talking about pointless stuff. I wanted to give you a summary of this series. But sadly every summary out there for this series basically spoils the first episode of the series. And the series hasn’t even started yet. I really don’t want to spoil that first episode for people because of the summary so we have to pass on one for now. People need to experience the start of this series for them self. It’s going to be interesting to see anime only peoples reactions to it. Here’s to hoping the studio at least adapts it correctly.

3. Mob Psycho 100 II

Series Summary

Kageyama Shigeo (a.k.a. “Mob”) is an 8th grader with psychic abilities. He could bend spoons and lift objects with his mind from a young age, but he slowly began to withhold from using his abilities in public due to the negative attention he kept receiving. Now, the only thing he wants is to become friends with a girl in his class, Tsubomi. With his psychic “mentor” (who has no psychic powers), he continues his daily life, attempting to realize his purpose in life. (Source:MangaUpdates)

Mob Psycho season 2, what more info could one even add to this. It’s probably without a doubt one of the most anticipated anime to air next season that’s a fact. And we don’t really need to summaries much about this series since most already know about it. But if you one of the few people who somehow has not watched the first season yet. Well, first here’s a summary of the first season and secondary go watch season 1 now before season 2 starts. Believe me, it will be worth your time.

4. Dororo

Series Summary

A samurai lord has bartered away his newborn son’s organs to forty-eight demons in exchange for dominance on the battlefield. Yet, the abandoned infant survives thanks to a medicine man who equips him with primitive prosthetics—lethal ones with which the wronged son will use to hunt down the multitude of demons to reclaim his body one piece at a time, before confronting his father. On his journeys the young hero encounters an orphan who claims to be the greatest thief in Japan. (Source:.Vertical-inc)

Dororo I do not know much about this anime. And barely know anything about its source material. All I know is that it’s a re-adaption of a classic manga titled Dororo to Hyakkimaru. Which was serialized in 1967 and ended in 1968. And that’s about it. From what I’ve seen from the trailers and previews of the series it looks like it will be really interesting.

A classic samurai tale mixed in with demons. If anything story wise this looks like something that might end up being great. Plus the art style looks really damn good. While it looks nothing like the old classic manga. Well, that would be obvious it changed the art style of the series to a more modern style. Which actually does make sense. If you went back and looked at the old manga’s style. You’d clearly see it’s a style most modern anime watchers probably wouldn’t like at all. But anyway keep an eye out for this anime. It might end up being a Gem.

5. Boogiepop wa Warawanai (2019)

Series Summary

There is an urban legend that tells of a shinigami that can release people from the pain they are suffering. This “Angel of Death” has a name—Boogiepop. And the legends are true. Boogiepop is real. When a rash of disappearances involving female students breaks out at Shinyo Academy, the police and faculty assume they just have a bunch of runaways on their hands. Yet some students know better. Something mysterious and foul is afoot. Is it Boogiepop or something even more sinister…?

Boogiepop wa Warawanai adapted by Madhouse studio. Having madhouse name locked onto this series will probably make a lot of people watch this. But for more older anime viewers the name Boogiepop will become curious about this series since it has the same name as the classic Boogiepop wa Warawanai that aired in 2000, Well that’s how it is in my case anyway i loved the 2000 adaption of Boogiepop so I’m really curious about this one.

But honestly, I also don’t know what this new Boogiepop is. Is it a re-adaption or something new. I don’t know mainly because I haven’t looked into it as much. But whatever it is it’s bound to be something very interesting and worth watching.

6. Kakegurui XX

Another fairly well-known anime getting a season 2 airing next season. Considering how popular this series was when it aired. I don’t believe it needs an introduction. It will probably once again a really popular anime people will love. I can’t say much about this and I can’t really give you a summary because of spoilers. I really don’t want to spoil people on this one so all I’ll say is if you haven’t seen the first season yet. Do go watch it ain’t that bad.

Ah but there is one thing I’d like to say before we move on to the next anime. I am really god damn curious how they going to continue this series. In this upcoming new season. Because last time I checked(and this ain’t a spoiler really) the first season ended with an anime original ending. So it leaves me wondering how they going to blend that anime original ending to fit the manga once again. Is season 2 going to continue with anime original stuff or will it try to go back to following the manga? I’m really curious about that which is why I’m looking forward to watching this to see how this plays out.

7. Kaguya-sama: Love is War

Series Summary

Kaguya Shinomiya and Miyuki Shirogane are the members of the incredibly prestigious Shuichi’in Academy’s student council, asserting their positions as geniuses among geniuses. All the time they spend together has caused the two of them to develop feelings for each other, but their pride will not allow them to be the one to confess and become the submissive one in the relationship! Love is war, and their battle to make the other confess begins now! (Source:MangaUpdates)

I honestly don’t have much to say about this one since I’ve only read a couple of chapters from the manga and it wasn’t enough to make me think this was something great. But it was indeed a really nice read and a series i find somewhat interesting. While it probably won’t be as popular as the rest on this list. I do think people should give this one a go. It might actually end up being really great you never know honestly.

8. The Quintessential Quintuplets

Series Summary

One day, a poor high school second-year named Fuutarou Uesugi comes across a private tutoring gig with good pay. But his pupils are his classmates!! And they’re quintuplets!! They’re all gorgeous girls, but they’re troublemakers who hate to study and are on the verge of flunking out. And his first task is simply gaining the sisters’ trust?! Every day is a party!

The curtain is rising on the Nakano quintuplets’ quirky romantic comedy with five times the cute!! (Source:Kodansha Comic)

The Quintessential Quintuplets is one of the series airing this season many people might skip but the few that started it might love. I am one of the few that loves it since I’ve been reading the manga of it since it started. While the series its self ain’t anything great story wise. It’s the generic i met her in the past but forgot about her plot kinda thing. But the characters make up for the fairly generic story. With MC being really good in my personal opinion and each one of the sisters with there own unique personalities and how it conflicts with the MC’s serious personality. Makes the series as a whole really fun to follow it’s something I’d keep an eye out for. Give it a try it’s honestly might be worth your time if you looking for a nice chill anime.

9. Date a Live III

Series Summary

April 10th. Yesterday was the last day of spring vacation, so starting this morning it was a school day. After being woken up by his cute little sister, Itsuka Shidou believed that it would be the start of another normal day. As for predicting the chance meeting with the girl who called herself a spirit.

Along with a sudden shockwave, the townscape vanished without a trace. In a corner of the street which had now become a crater, the girl was there. “You, have you come to kill me too”

She is the disaster that will destroy humanity, a monster of unknown origin, and a being rejected by the world. There are only two ways to stop this girl: annihilation, and conversation. His little sister Kotori, wrapped in a military uniform, thus said to Shidou: “Since it’s like this, just go date her, and make the spirit fall for you. (Source:MangaUpdates)

Not really one of my anticipated anime of next season. But I do know many other people are looking forward to it. Which is why it’s on this list. So people who loved the first 2 seasons should get excited about this. Since I already watched the first two seasons I’ll probably also watch it on the side like the rest.  And I’ve read a bit online this arc the anime will be covering will be somewhat interesting so I’m curious to see what the fuss is about.

On another note, and this is just something that cracked me If you look at the poster of this series you realized the poster is made with really low effort. Whoever made that poster just copied the same “O” face on every single character. It honestly cracks me up every time I look at that poster it’s just. I really do hope tho that the actual anime isn’t made with a low effort like that poster. That would honestly be horrible.

10. Domestic Girlfriend

Series Summary

High schooler Natsuo is hopelessly in love with his cheerful and popular teacher, Hina. However, one day at a mixer, he meets a moody girl by the name of Rui and ends up sleeping with her. Soon after, his father announces that he’s getting remarried to a woman with two daughters of her own. And who shows up in tow, other than both Hina and Rui?! Natsuo’s outrageous new life starts now! (Source: Kodansha Comic)

Domestic Girlfriend do I have somewhat of a history with this series. I’ve read the manga of it and honestly loved it at first. But as the series went on it did some things that fairly annoyed me causing me to hate this series. If I were to go into detail what pissed me off about this series. It would lead to spoilers once again and again I don’t want to spoil people this isn’t the purpose of this article.

But anyway why put a series I hate on a what to watch in Winter 2019 list. Well since I’ve read the manga and know the start of this series and as I said above I loved the start. I can honestly see many other people loving this anime. And if this anime only has 12 episodes. It would adapt all the good parts from the start and end right when the series got horrible for me. And that would be great if it stops right before stuff gets bad. Then the anime would honestly end up being a great romance anime for next season. Well, that’s what I believe anyway. So yeah the anime might honestly be good. Worth checking out if I’m correct about it ending right before it gets to the parts that pissed me off.

And that wraps up the Winter 2019 Anime Worth Checking Out Guide. Not a lot of hard hitter anime airing winter 2019. But with the few anime airing next season there is still plenty of interesting stuff to look forward to in Winter 2019. If there happens to be a series you didn’t find on this list which airs next season and what people to know about it. Please do leave a comment about it in the comment section down below.
