Storyline

The story goes way deeper than tackling the superficialities associated with the idea of beauty. Since the characters of True Beauty initially reside in a high school setting, it also portrays struggles some of them have while deciding upon a line of profession for their future. Similar to how Lost in Translation builds up on the K-pop narrative, True Beauty does the same in its subplot concerning one of the characters, who is a member of a K-pop group. Storyline

All events unfold in front of us through the eyes of Kim Seok-jin, who has been doomed to relive the same painful moments of his life on a loop. He tries his best to right all the wrongs and save his friends from the unimaginable darkness as all is unveiled throughout the course of him being stuck in time. Yet, the question that forebodingly hangs over him is -Who is going to save him?

The moniker “Save Me” refers to a song released by the South Korean boy band BTS. Through this webtoon, the creators expand the storyline introduced in the music videos of ‘The Most Beautiful Moment in Life’ series. Furthermore, it ties its strands with the succeeding series namely ‘Young Forever’ and ‘Love Yourself’ (albums released by BTS).

Lost in Translation is loosely based on real-life K-pop Idols. Jjolee, the creator has confirmed that the character Daehyun was actually a spitting image of Day6‘s Jae. It aimed to translate realism through this fictional work. More or less, Save Me relies on the same technique, but in a different manner. It seems to fictionalize the personae of the members of the Kpop group BTS. Thereafter, it posits them in an alternate universe which has been termed the “Bangtan Universe” (BU). In addition to that, the webtoon is an adaptation of BTS’s music videos and the storyline followed therein.
