The Night is Short, Walk On Girl Novel is based on the novel by Tatami Galaxy’s Tomihiko Morimi. The film premiered in Japan back in April 7, 2017 with the Japanese title “Yoru wa Mijikashi Arukeyo Otome”. GKIDS describes the story as follows:
As a group of teens go out for a night on the town, a sophomore known only as “The Girl with Black Hair” experiences a series of surreal encounters with the local nightlife. Simultaneously, she is unaware of the romantic longings of Senpai, a fellow student who has been creating increasingly fantastic and contrived reasons to run into her, in an effort to win her heart.
The Night is Short, Walk On Girl – Official Teaser
“The Night is Short, Walk on Girl” won at the Ottawa Animation Festival, 2017 in the feature film category. Masaaki Yuasa is the director for the film and if you are familiar with Yuasa’s previous works you would definetly come to love this move.
Moreover, Science SARU is the studio for the series with Fuji TV, Toho and BS Fuji producing the film. This film bears some close relationship with The Tatami Galaxy, also a previous Yuasa-directed work. The original novels by Tomihiko Morimi share a setting in Kyoto and apparently take place in the same universe and the same goes for this film.
So there you have it, some background you needed to know. So do let us know if you look forward to this film.
