Hey, there fellow otakus, gamers, anime fans, and manga freaks. I hope you are enjoying Christmas time with your families and friends. Some people are spending the time gaming, while some are reading a manga or watching anime. What am I doing? Well, that is a good question indeed. Unlike most people, I like to keep my time productive. Therefore, I am still incorporating some work and studying during the day, but it’s limited to only a few hours. The rest of the time is spent on relaxing, being with family. Enjoying that Christmas spirit with your friends, drinking some hot chocolate near a fireplace and just chilling there. There is no better time for Otakus to stay inside than during winter breaks.
We can binge some great anime, and catch up with a series that we have put on hold due to work/school. Now that I told you how I’m spending my time, I’d love to hear how you are spending your time during these holidays. I was actually planning on ending this article right here, however, I can not leave you without sharing some of that anime knowledge. I love anime, and writing about it makes me really happy. Therefore, I am bound to give you a list of my very own anime recommendations to watch during the holiday season. Do not worry, I will be keeping it short, as I did not plan to make this into a huge thing at the first time anyway. So let’s get down to it.
My Holiday Recommendations
05. Winter Sonata
If you are looking for a good drama-romance anime then Winter Sonata will be the one for you. Set with a Christmas-snowy theme, it is one of my top pics for you to watch with your friends or family during holidays. The anime was based of a Korean drama TV series, so you can expect it to be quite dramatic with it’s romantic parts.
04. Tokyo Godfathers
This is quite an interesting story filled with action, thrill, comedy and drama. In the spirit of Christmas what better anime to check out than Tokyo Godfathers. The story follows 3 homeless people who find a child during Christmas Eve. After finding him, they set it to be their mission to return the child home and find his parents.
03. White Album 2
You know how every Christmas you need that one story where dancing or music is included? Well we won’t be dancing, but speaking of musically themed anime, then I’d definitely recommend White Album 2, which has a snowy theme. Followed by that musical aspect that gives it a nice touch of Drama and Romance.
02. 5 Centimeters Per Second
We’ve had a lot of Drama and Romance so far in this list, so why not make a bit of a change with some more Drama and Romance. Well you know, you gotta love the Drama and Romance mix, it’s perfect for holiday season when you don’t want to use your brain too much like when you would be watching Psychological anime. That’s exactly why we have masterpieces such as 5 centimeters per second. Watch it, you won’t regret it 😛
01. Boku dake ga Inai Machi
Another great snowy-themed anime, and with this one we really are breaking the ice and moving away from this classical Romance Drama Christmas package. Even though this anime has some small elements of romance. It focuses more on friendship, drama and time-traveling. And yes, that is exactly what we were missing these holidays. A great anime with time-traveling is definitely a must for me during the breaks.
And there you have it, a short list, unlike some of my other ones that go over 10k words, and have around 40-60 anime on the list, I really took it down a notch and made sure not to bother you with too much reading during the holidays. And with all that being said, I wish you all a Merry Christmas, joy and some rest from all the work/studying.
One of my definite favorite topics and genres among all anime is horror. Ever since I started watching anime I have been researching horror anime and watching them as much as I could. There is something in the horror that really attracts me towards watching it, and I believe there is something that attracts you as well. Otherwise, you would…
